From Alpha to Beta: The future of cXc Music
The Alpha release was meant to be a MLP, Minimum Lovable Product. Now, it’s game time.
We built a model car in Alpha. It looked decent, with plenty of room for improvement, but the engine was not really there, and the only keys were for Steemit.
cXc Music Beta is a real automobile, with geo-temporal voting, Google login, and Sol and Blue being assigned to accounts for the first time.
In this article we will explain the upgrades coming to cXc Music in Beta.
We plan to launch Beta sometime in the Spring of 2020. We posted more information about the development below, and will post updates to our Steemit blog if you are interested on the progress.
Beta Features List and Completion Status

Time Units (TUs) — Time units are complete for every 5-Minute block since Summer Solstice ’19, TU #1. — 100%
Geographic Units — We have compiled a database of the outlines of 196 nations, and states, counties, and towns in the US. These outlines allow us to test for location in-house. Future countries can be added, and must adhere to a four-tier jurisdiction — 100%
Sol — Users are now assigned a Sol chip, with 288 Sol Points. Each Sol point can UP one time. Only registered users can vote, but they need not be verified at this point. Eventually, — 75%
Blue — Blue voting is now available! Users will link with their youtube account to automatically receive the Blue received by their videos. Users can also declare themselves partial owners of an account. Distributing to verified accounts. All Youtube and Soundcloud accounts automatically accumulate Blue when UPed from anyone’s posting. A artist can link their account to receive the Blue, and verify it to spend it.— 50%
Big UPs — 64 Sol UPs. Allows users to show their support in a meaningful way. Big UPs can only be given with Sol. We will be building Big Up displays into the Changer role in Beta— 90%
Location Search — Working in every nation and in states, countys, and cities in the US. We will add new countries by demand, taking into account number of track accurately posted there and UPs. Each country will follow the same three part system, making it — 80%
Time Search — Time units are searchable through sliders. We want to add a display of buttons of common time frames, for those who want to see. We will cache these results for better performance. — 65%
Roles — Building and Rewarding our Community
The roles will be introduced in Beta through unlocking displays in the yet-to-be-unveiled display modal. Each role will receive a % of the total blue spent in a period according to how much each account earned that period (Remember, blue is destroyed when spent, but some is re-distributed). Guardians get 1/3, artists 1/12, and changers 1/6. Roles will also have levels, from 0–4, that determine the privileges and powers the user has.
Artists — Will get a display to find and interact with musicians of a chosen genre, and display themselves as interested in collaborations or paying gigs. Artists get the least amount of Blue because they earn the BLU directly from voting, so any extra blue is just a bonus.
Guardians — Are the authorities on Music, making decisions about the accuracy of information. Guardians are paid the highest amount of BLU because their work is the most involved.
Changers — Changers change the face of cXc Music. Changers are rewarded for spending their SOL chip each day, Big UPing, Blue UPing, posting music (while Artists are rewarded for creating the music).
Verification
We will introduce verification in Beta, but probably not at the onset of Beta. Verification is something that we plan to have in-house through lvl 3 Guardians, but we are also planning to integrate a third party service to keep all data away from our end for security. Verification in-house will consist of person-to-person talks (you will have an audio or video chat to be verified,) where each person is incorporated into the cXc Music sphere considering their unique talents and desires.

Light Up— Throw a bunch of UPs, or all your UPs on something.
